Biography
John Carpenter-‘Carpenter’s Eye’-
Is 63 years old, and has been taking photographs for over 40 years-more if you include the Box Brownie of great age given to me by my Father when I was 8!
I work in the Aerospace Industry in the UK.
For many years I worked in Black & White with a ‘Wet Darkroom’ full of smelly chemicals. Studied Photography at Bournemouth College, where our brilliant Tutor used to check the Stop Bath by dipping her finger in it and touching the wet finger to her front teeth!! So, we learned from developing the film in different hand-mixed developers (to give various, desired, results) to techniques such as Dodging and Burning- both so much easier in the electronic darkroom of today.
I studied Photoshop at Bournemouth College under Gordon Beddis, of whom I said-he changed my perception of Photography forever!
My photographs have been hung in several major exhibitions, published in the U.S.A., and now, in 2008, winning the first Albox Digital Photography Competition.
I spend part of my time in Arboleas at a development called El Chopo. Because of the wonderful scenery, I call Arboleas, The Valley of the Almonds.
I find the area between Albox and Vera Playa inspirational. The scenery, old Cortijos, people and Flora are stunning-every stimulus the photographer needs.
